The M A Chidambaram Stadium, the home venue of the Chennai Super Kings has been hosting IPL matches since the inaugural season.The stadium is the only home venue to the Chennai Super Kings who play all their home fixtures here.The stadium was also one of the highest rated stadium for Twenty20 cricket.The Chepauk Stadium has so far hosted 14 matches of the IPL after the three tournaments being played.So far there has been one century,one hat-trick and one super over match played here. The stadium was also chosen to host the group fixtures,second semi-final and the finals of the Inaugural edition of the CLT20.

The Chepauk Stadium hosted its first ever IPL match where the Mumbai Indians took on the Chennai Super Kings.The hosts put up a tremendous score of 208 while the visitors fell for 202 resulting in one of the highest match aggregate ever in this form of cricket.The Knight Riders lost their first ever IPL match here when the Super Kings chased their modest 147/9.However the Chennai Super Kings could not just remain victorious in every match that was played here.They slumped to their first ever IPL defeat when the Delhi Daredevils took them down.They also lost to the Deccan Chargers, Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Rajasthan Royals despite a win against Kings XI Punjab in the middle.

The Chennai Super Kings the champions of the 2010 Indian Premier League begun their tournament against the Deccan Chargers at here,the Chepauk.The visitors powered by incredible performances from their skipper and middle order tamed the Super Kings down.The Chennai Super Kings who were just beginning to look brisk with two back-to-back wins was defeated down in a super over match over here.The Super Kings then lost successive away matches that were played at Bengaluru,Mumbai and Ahmedabad respectively.While many thought it was the road end for the Super Kings, it was over here where they emerged back into the competition with two marvelous wins Twenty20 cricket won't forget.The game between the hosts and the Rajasthan Royals recorded the highest-ever match aggeregate in the version of the game.The Super Kings kept their winning momentum going by winning the next couple of games played here against the Mumbai Indians and the Kolkata Knight Riders.However they were outplayed by the Delhi Daredevils in the last game that was played here.

The renovated MA Chidambaram Stadium hosted the opening game and the final two games of the Indian Premier League as a result of the Super Kings winning the 2010 season.
The opening game of the 2011 IPL was played at Chennai which also included a magnificent opening ceremony in which many Bollywood stars performed.The Super Kings prevailed in a close encounter against Kolkata Knight Riders in the first game that was played here.This was followed by successive victories against arch-rivals Royal Challengers Bangalore and new-comers Pune Warriors with Australian batsman Michael Hussey coming good with matchwinning performances both the occasions.The fourth game against the Deccan Chargers turned out to be another thriller in which the Super Kings won by holding their nerves.The Super kings also defeated the Rajasthan Royals who could not capitalize on their early fortunes.Michael Hussey played another impressive knock in that game.MS Dhoni's blazing innings of 63(31 balls)also defeated the Delhi Daredevils in the next game here to assure them a place in the play-offs.The Chennai Super Kings successfully defeated the Kochi Tuskers Kerala in the last league game at the stadium,hence winning all their home fixtures.This was only the second time such a feat was accomplished in the Indian Premier League previously being Rajasthan Royals in 2008.
The MAC Stadium hosted the final two games of the 2011 IPL including the Qualifier 2 and the Final as a result of the Super Kings winning the 2010 Indian Premier League.The Qualifier two saw Mumbai Indians winner of the eliminator take on the Royal Challengers Bangalore who lost the first Qualifier to the Super Kings.RCB posted a huge 185/4 with Jamaican batsman Chris Gayle scoring a massive 47-ball 90 runs.Mumbai Indians were unable to chase it down after some brilliant spells from Daniel Vettori who capitalized on the spin-friendly track.Royal Challengers' victory ensured them their second final in the IPL in which they played the defending champions and home team Chennai Super Kings.The Super Kings were on the front foot since the word go,punishing length balls,quick running between wickets and not losing aerly wickets.Chennai openers Michael Hussey and Murali Vijay posted a record opening partnership of 159 runs as the lower order finished things up in style as Chennai made a huge 205/5.CSK were always in control of the second innings ever since Ravichandran Ashwin got the in-form Chris Gayle out for a duck.The Super Kings won the match by 58 runs,thus successfully defending the crown in front of their home crowd which was something not achieved earlier in the tournament.With the win in final,The super Kings have won all of the eight games they had played at Chennai,thus going unbeaten at home for a season.
